A Different Sunday

A different Sunday morning. It took a little getting used to for the kids but I sure am thankful that we can still gather with those around the world to worship our Savior.
Since our local church was having some technical issues we watched Shadow Mountain, our church while in San Diego.
Dr. Jeremiah gave a powerful sermon on what we can learn and who we can turn to during these difficult and uncertain times.

You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.
                                          Isaiah 26:3

I pray that this messages will introduce you to the hope and peace you can find in Jesus Christ.

Star Wars 6th Birthay

birthday breakfast

Happy 6th birthday sweet boy!

He’s been counting down till his big day all month. He gave lots of cuddles his last night of being five and woke-up extra early his first morning being 6. I peeked in as we were preparing his breakfast and he had one eye open with a big smile on his face.

I ordered his Amazon gifts a couple days too late so ventured out from the house to an empty Target to find some gifts. Star Wars pajamas and Legos and  a soccer goal were exactly what he wanted.

This was supposed to be the year of birthday parties but plans changed with Covid-19. Thankfully all our little guy wanted were a few family traditions and some time together. Since he birthday fell on a Saturday it was a cleaning day but EJ spent the afternoon working on a cake. She made it by herself!

After dinner he finally got to see his cake.

His excitement just melts my ❤️

This has been the year of Star Wars (the kids saw episodes 4-6 for the first time) so Bennett insisted on a specific cake with a peg doll on top. It wasn’t until we started decorating that it hit me that making a Death Star with Darth Vader may have been a little dark...

Happy 70th Birthday

Happy 70th Birthday Mom!

It was a little different than planned but we are so thankful for the time we had together.

We love you!

Unshakable Faith

So this was our last public outing for at least a couple weeks. Thankfully there are no Covid-19 cases yet in our area but most school, sports, and church activities are being cancelled and we are staying home to protect the most vulnerable around us.

It seemed fitting that the science experiment #EricHovind chose to end Saturday’s session let us experience how one person’s decision...good or bad...affects us all. A lesson the kids will not soon forget!
The kids got to experience first hand the amazing properties of water. 💦 🤚 🔥
#EricHovind challenged the kids (and adults) to critically think about the world around them and equipped them to logically engage with skeptics. Last night’s session had the kids at the edge of their seats and they can’t wait to see what science experiments he does tonight!

God’s Fingerprint in Japan

Is there evidence of a creator God in Japanese history and culture?
This international Telly Award winning documentary does a wonderful job answering that question. We were first introduced to it by Japanese group handing out DVDs at a Cherry Blossom festival in Washington D.C. When we watched God's Fingerprints in Japan we were blown away by the beautiful cinematography and fascinating information. Enjoy!

Happy Purim

Chag Purim Sameach!

This holiday celebrates the victory of the Jewish people in Persia during the fifth century thanks to the boldness of Queen Esther.

at the Western Wall in Jerusalem
Though evil designs continuously arise to destroy the Jewish people, God is faithfully working to save His people.

The Pensacola Chabad Center hosted a Jerusalem themed party to celebrate the deliverance of the Jews.

Purim greeting.

There are four commands that the Jewish people should fulfill on this holiday.

Reading the Megillah in Hebrew.

Se’udar Purim - a taste of Jerusalem meal.

Hamantash - Haman’s Ears cookies
Mishloach Manot - giving gifts to friends.

Matanot - giving to the poor.

There were also some games to keep the evening lively.

“Do not imagine that you in the king’s palace can escape any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” – Esther 4:13-14

Happy Hinamatsuri

Happy Hinamatsuri to our dear friends in Japan. You are in our thoughts and prayers during these uncertain times.

"coming out of the box
this pair of dolls
I have not forgotten their faces"

We didn't get the kimonos out this year but we did pick up sushi for lunch and then mochi ice cream after dinner as we watched videos from Japan and reminisced about our time there.

Fur Babies

Albert and Capri
Albert got to spend some quality time with Capri, our first fur baby.

Capri is PopPop’s baby now.

Albert also got some time with Lily

She doesn't usually get along with other doges but seemed to put up with him.

Though she's sixteen she can still keep up.
