Uncle J shares a July birthday with my dad so we celebrated his special day during his holiday visit.

When you have nieces and nephews around, not only do you give up blowing out birthday candles but also opening your own presents. He didn't seem to mind a bit.
Uncle J recently took up painting and is on his way to being a master painter. His birthday cake was inspired by the sunflower painting he painted a while back.
Eric Carle's book "The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse" seemed the perfect gift for a budding artist.
He immediately picked out some pictures to paint with his niece and nephew.
It was fun to see the differences in painting styles between the cousins. What little masterpieces they turned out to be, but then again I may be a bit biased:)

We hope this is a birthday celebration Uncle J remembers for a while. I know the little ones will!
This is about the places we visit, the recipes we try, the things I create, and some family photos mixed in.
As for the name...
Pearl studs are the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off. They can go from casual to dressy when I'm out with my husband and are fuss free when I'm holding my kids.
