Drifting lazily through the sky at sunrise sounded like the perfect way to spend a morning together as a family. Thanks to Groupon, I found out there was a hot air balloon company, Virginia Balloons LLC, out of Williamsburg that I felt was reputable enough to put us all at their mercy. They didn't usually take children under six up, but the owner heard DaddyO was a pilot and EJ was very comfortable around aircraft noise, they gave her an exception. She was excited to hear she'd be going up into the sky (it's amazing how many children's books have hot air balloons in them) but didn't fully understand what a treat was in store for her.
We scheduled the trip to be while Grandma was visiting so she could follow our balloon from below with CJ. She ended up being our balloon chaser.
It was a sunrise balloon ride so of course we were up bright and early to meet up with our guide. We took off from a farmer's field right outside of Williamsburg, VA.
We took a lot of pictures documenting the experience but I think the video shows it all.
This was another check off my bucket list. An experience I know EJ (nor CJ) will hopefully not forget.
This is about the places we visit, the recipes we try, the things I create, and some family photos mixed in.
As for the name...
Pearl studs are the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off. They can go from casual to dressy when I'm out with my husband and are fuss free when I'm holding my kids.
Aviator wings have steered our lives these past 15 year and will continue for a while longer. We have lived in Virginia, Florida, California, Japan and Italy and are excited to see where the wings will take us next!
