Yokohama Fire Review
by Pearl
In a tradition dating back centuries, many fire departments in Japan kick off each new year with a display of their firefighting prowess.
We attended Yokohama's Fire Review at the Red Brick Warehouse. The New Year's Fire Review (known as Dezome-shiki in Japanese) consisted of firefighting displays, troop reviews, and demonstrations.
Red and yellow were everywhere.
I was repeatedly reminded that 1-1-9 is the emergency number.
The kids met some mascots.
Rode in some fire vehicles.
And dressed up as fire fighters.
It was a fun and educational day.The kids should have a better knowledge of fighting fires.
