Enoshima Aquarium

Enoshima Aquarum is a gem of an underwater place to explore. Yet another that we seemed to miss our fist time stationed here.

Just a thirty minute train ride south to Enoshima beach, it is the perfect place to take the kids for a couple hours. Their reasonable yearly membership gives good reason to come back again and again and again.

All the fish seem very exotic but I guess that is what I should expect being on the other side of the world.

Their deep water tank is breathtaking. Schools of shimmering fish flow around sharks, sting rays, and the occasional diver. The kids could watch it for hours.

There is a whole hall of jellyfish. Every size, color, and shape imaginable.

The Japanese spider crab is like nothing I have ever seem at an aquarium. It has the largest leg span of any arthropod, reaching up to 3.8 meters (12 ft) and weighing up to 19 kilograms (42 lb). I can only imagine a crab feast on one of them!

The kids could watch the shows over and over again. Enoshima island can be seen in the background.

Of course the Japanese have cute snack for the kids to enjoy while visiting. EJ liked the sea turtle bun.

I'm sure there will be many more posts about this fabulous aquarium. There is so much for the children to remember.
