Pumpkin Spice Playdough

It was a cool foggy morning, the closest I think we have gotten to what I would consider an Autumn day. EJ wanted to spend the morning playing with playdough but was disappointed to find out that mom was right and her dough had dried to rock after she left it out. What was a little girl to do?

I haven't been a big fan of homemade playdough up to this point. All of the natural recipes we have tried have felt salty and dry. I was willing to give making more a chance though. A better alternative than driving to Target and spending a fortune on the colored dough.

This recipe caught my eye and EJ was eager to start cooking.

We gathered the ingredients (on hand in the pantry) and bowls and EJ started measuring and mixing.

CJ had to get in on the action and provided some background music for his sister.

Our pomegranate dyed pumpkin spiced playdough was ready in five minutes and provided a couple hours of play for the kiddos.

I was impressed with how much this recipe made, how long it lasted without drying out, and the texture of the dough, smooth and pliable. Once the kids were finished playing I wrapped it in plastic wrap and stored it in a container ready for the next playtime.
